Sending a message to Japan

A piano recital by Ms Misuzu Tsuji was held at 7pm on Friday 19th October. The opening address was given by Mr Christophe Kurita. He performed a presentation of the “Home for all” project and said “Now is the time to remind ourselves about the disaster which happened a year and a half ago. I hope this event will give us an opportunity to do so”.

The Recital started with “Pavane pour une Infante Défunte” by Maurice Ravel then pieces by Toru Takemitsu and Frédéric Chopin were followed. These melodies touched and cherished each one of our hearts which were filled with thoughts for Japan. For the encore, Chopin’s “Nocturne” (a posthumous work) was played. People made silent prayers while being filled with a melody with seemed to be reaching out for hope again and again in the midst of a crisis.

After the recital, an exhibition by a cartoonist, Mr Christophe Kurita, an illustrator, Ms Natsuki Kai, a Poraloid photographer, Ms Jean Marie Bellemain, a ceramic artist, Ms Tazuka Izumi and an artist, Mrs Inés P Kuber was held at a salon. All were engaged in heartfelt exchange and enjoyed the warm atomosphere.

A wide variety of people from different nationalities joined this event, the venue being within a language school. Many passers-by showed their interests and asked Japonaide staff what this recital was in aid of. We feel we have helped a little towards “Sending a message to Japan” by talking to them.

The event, in which the thoughts toward Japan were demonstrated in various ways, succeeded in raising 512 Euros. All proceeds will be donated to the “Home for all” project.

Message de soutien pour le Japon

Avant le commencement du concert du piano par Madame Mirei Tsuji, une explication sur le contexte du projet Minna no ië (« La Maison pour Tous ») a été donnée par Monsieur Christophe KURITA. « Parce que plus d’une année s’est écoulée depuis ce tragique évènement, que cette rencontre puisse donner à chacun une nouvelle occasion pour y repenser… »

Le concert débuta avec La Pavane de l’Infante défunte de Maurice Ravel. Les morceaux de Toru Takemitsu et de Chopin qui s’ensuivirent, accompagnaient les pensées pour le Japon de chacun d’entre nous.

Et pour le rappel, la Nocturne N°20 posthume en do dièse mineur de Chopin. La mélodie qui sans cesse qui évoquait le va-et-vient de l’espoir malgré la tristesse, invitait, chacun de nous, à la prière.

Après le concert, fut organisée une exposition-vente des artistes, tels que le manga-ka Christophe KURITA, l’illustratrice Natsuki Kai, le photographe polaroid Jean-Marie BELLEMAIN, l’artiste-potier Izumi Tazuka, ou encore l’artiste Inès P KUBER.

Une atmosphère d’échanges chaleureux entre les artistes et les spectateurs de toutes origines remplit cette salle, habituellement lieu d’apprentissage linguistique.

Cette animation a attiré de nombreux passants, curieux, qui nous ont rejoints et ont voulu savoir en quel honneur était organisé un tel évènement. En leur expliquant, nous, membres de l’association JAPONAIDE, avions pu avoir l’impression de contribuer, ne serait-ce qu’un peu, à apporter un message de soutien pour le Japon…

Lors de cet évènement réalisé sous différentes formes, mais toutes à l’unisson pour donner une opportunité de penser au Japon, un montant total de 512 euros ont été recueillis.
Ces dons et contributions à l’issue de la vente seront intégralement versés au projet Minna no ië.
